Samson Bvure is a high-spirited person whose eyes always look straight forward. Many Africans have a laid back personality and emit vibrations similar to that of reggae music, but Samson Bvure a unique man with a true samurai spirit. The keys of his mbira are polished as one would polish a sword.
He runs "Dangurangu," a school for mbira in the suburbs of Harare which accepts foreign students. Both electricity and water are very scarce there. Bvure's current style of playing is very fierce and wild, influenced by the nature and wilderness around his school.
He says "This linga (village) is richer than Harare because we have an abundance of both mil mil (corn powder) and mukawa wood." His environment helps explain his fierceness and energy.
